Diwali corporate gifting: a simple planning checklist

Diwali is the busiest gifting moment of the year for Indian businesses — and the one most likely to turn into a last-minute scramble. Settle these eight things early and the rest takes care of itself.
1. Decide who you’re gifting
Make separate lists for employees, key clients, channel partners and vendors. Each group usually deserves a different gift and budget, and splitting them now avoids awkward one-size-fits-all choices later.
2. Set a per-person budget
Agree a budget per head for each group, and remember the price on a website is rarely the whole story — branding, packaging, GST and shipping all add to it. Ask your supplier for an all-in quote.
3. Count heads (plus a buffer)
Confirm final numbers with HR and sales, then add 5–10% for new joiners and late additions. Re-ordering a small top-up of a branded item is slower and pricier than ordering a few extra upfront.
4. Choose gifts people will use
The gifts that get remembered are the ones that end up on a desk or in a bag: a good flask, a well-made diary, a backpack, a set that feels premium. Check our festive picks for ideas across budgets.
5. Pick the right branding
Laser engraving looks refined on metal; embroidery suits apparel and caps; UV print handles full-colour logos on hard surfaces. Not sure? Our guide to choosing a branding method explains the differences.
6. Don’t forget the box
Packaging is the first thing people see. A branded box, sleeve or tag — plus a short message from your leadership — turns a product into a gift.
7. Plan delivery
Will gifts go to one office, several branches, or to each person’s home? Multi-address delivery needs a clean spreadsheet of names, addresses and phone numbers, so start collecting it now.
8. Work backwards from your date
Pick the date gifts must be in hand, then work backwards: delivery, packing, production, proof approval and sampling all need time — and everyone else is ordering at the same moment. Booking early is the single best way to avoid compromises.
